MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s tennis team opens the 2020 spring season with two Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches in Fargo, N.D., this Saturday and Sunday.
SMSU, under first-year head coach Jon Parker, who was named to the position on Jan. 10, 2020, will take on the University of Mary on Saturday at 3 p.m. On Sunday, SMSU will take on MSU Moorhead with match time at 9 a.m. Both matches will be held at Courts Plus.
Parker has six players on the roster, including senior Paige Janka, who is a two-time Academic All-NSIC honoree and won five matches in singles play last season and nine in doubles play.
SMSU is 4-9 all-time versus UMary, including losing the past eight meetings. SMSU has lost the last six matches versus MSU Moorhead, but leads the all-time series 20-18.
